Hi, Im Melani- owner of Perfectly Imperfect Marriage Counseling and Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I am so glad you are here!
As a person (and therapist) I am a firm believer in healing, even in the messy, chaotic and tumultuous seasons. I am an advocate for the ability to write a story you can love and thrive in through active participation in the healing process.
I started this work not just because I wanted to help people, but because I knew through my own experiences that places like this are sacred. Places where you feel safe, seen, valued, treasured, cherished and heard. Places that are non-judgmental and allow you to sort through life at your pace and in a way that feels authentic to you. I know what it feels like to carry the weight of the world and to feel invisible or unseen in your story; I know what its like to question your worth and to be strong for everyone else while quietly falling apart on your own. That is why I created Perfectly Imperfect Counseling- a place where your whole self is welcome, seen and celebrated. Not just the masks you wear, the roles you have been assigned and the characters you play, but YOU, the real, authentic, messy and imperfect you.
You don’t need to have a plan. You don’t need to have it all figured out. And you don’t even need to know what the path looks like to take the first step. That is what true faith is, trusting in what we can’t see, believing that there is goodness in store, and trusting in the process.
a little more about me:
I earned my Masters in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University in 2015
I have worked in college settings, community mental health, non-profit sectors, as well as with marginalized and underserved communities.
I began my private practice in 2019 and have loved serving clients this way.
I consider myself a creative and enjoy quiet mornings to engage in devotional time with God. I do daily art pieces and write my own devotionals. I also love music, singing, and iced coffee.
I am a 1w2, INFJ, and an empathic feeler, a hopeful realist and someone who truly believes that progress is greater than perfection. My deep desire is to work daily to leave this world better than I found it in some way.
In my downtime I love to spend time with my teens and my golden retriever. We love to off-road and camp, explore new places, try new coffee shops, listen to good music, spend time in the kitchen and serve in our community. I am happiest outside near water, or walking among the trees. If life isn’t a musical for you, that makes me kinda sad. Also a huge fan of Friends (could I BE more excited that you’re here!?!), Schitt’s creek (loving this journey for you) and The Office (that’s what I said).
